About this tool

Unit Converter handles instant conversions across ten categories: length, weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, digital storage, time, energy, and pressure. Pick a category, enter a value, and every other unit in that category updates live in the reference table.

Example: type 5 under Length with meters selected and the table shows it as 16.404 ft, 5.468 yd, and 0.003107 mi. For temperature, converting 100 °C gives 212 °F and 373.15 K with the offset formula shown.

The converter uses exact conversion factors (e.g. 1 inch = 0.0254 m exactly, 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg exactly) and distinguishes metric from US/UK imperial units. Use the swap button to reverse direction quickly.

FAQ

Are the conversion factors exact?

Yes for the SI and imperial definitions — e.g. 1 inch is defined as exactly 0.0254 meters and 1 pound as exactly 0.45359237 kilograms. Derived units like acres, BTU, and fluid ounces use their precise legal definitions.

Why does temperature need a special formula?

Most units convert by multiplying a factor (1 km = 1000 m). Temperature has an offset as well as a scale: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. The tool shows the conversion path (e.g. Celsius → base → Fahrenheit) in the formula box so you can see the arithmetic.

What is the difference between KB and Kibit?

KB is 1024 bytes (kibibyte in strict IEC usage); Kibit is 1024 bits (kibibit). The digital storage category separates bytes from bits so you can convert between, say, a 500 GB drive and the gigabit-per-second throughput of a network link.

Can I convert cooking units?

Yes — the Volume category includes teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, fluid ounces, pints, and gallons (US and UK), alongside milliliters and liters.
