Typing Speed Test
Test your typing speed online — WPM, accuracy, and character count in 30s or 60s modes
About this tool
A typing speed test that measures your words per minute (WPM) and accuracy as you type randomly selected English sentences. Choose between a 30-second sprint or a 60-second session — the timer starts on your first keystroke.
The target sentence appears above the input area. Each character you type is highlighted in real time: green when correct, red when wrong. When you finish a sentence, the next one appears automatically so you can keep typing without interruption.
Your final WPM is calculated from correct keystrokes only (5 characters = 1 word), and accuracy is the percentage of correct keystrokes out of total keystrokes.
FAQ
How is WPM calculated? ›
WPM (words per minute) is calculated using the standard formula: every 5 correct keystrokes count as one word. Only correctly typed characters contribute to WPM — mistakes reduce your score indirectly because they do not count toward the word total.
What is a good typing speed? ›
The average typing speed is around 40 WPM. 60–80 WPM is considered fast, and anything above 80 WPM is exceptional. Professional typists often reach 100+ WPM.
Can I paste text into the test? ›
No, pasting is disabled. The test measures your actual typing ability, so all text must be typed manually.
Does the timer start immediately? ›
No, the timer starts when you press your first key. This gives you time to read the target sentence before you begin typing.
