About this tool

The Pomodoro Technique breaks work into focused intervals (traditionally 25 minutes) separated by short breaks, with a longer break every four cycles. This timer automates that rhythm: set your focus, short-break, and long-break lengths, press Start, and the circular progress ring plus audio cue tell you when to switch.

It is useful for studying, writing, coding sprints, or any deep-work task where context-switching kills momentum. The session counter shows how many focus blocks you have completed today, which helps you budget the day and notice when fatigue sets in.

Example: defaults are 25 min focus5 min short break → repeat 4 times → 15 min long break. After every fourth focus block the timer automatically switches to the long break, then the cycle resets.

FAQ

What are the classic Pomodoro intervals?

25 minutes of focus, a 5-minute short break, and a 15-minute long break after every fourth focus block. You can change all three values in the settings panel if a different rhythm suits you better.

Does the timer keep running if I close the tab?

No — the countdown lives in the page. If you navigate away or close the tab, the current interval is lost. Keep the tab open (or pinned) while a focus block is running.

Will it alert me when a block ends?

Yes. A short audio chime plays at the end of each focus and break block, and the document title updates with the remaining time so you can see the countdown even when the tab is in the background.

Can I pause in the middle of a focus block?

Yes — Pause stops the countdown without resetting it. Press Start again to resume from where you left off. Use Reset to discard the current block and start over.
